Photoshop Batch process

Ok could anyone tell me how to batch process using save to web in photoshop and just rewrite the exisitng image? Evertime i try to record an action it saves whereever i choose to save the image...I have tried checking the box for "Override Save action" and it makes zero difference...A step by step guide would be much appreciated, this is driving me nuts!

I find photoshop puts the images in another nested /image/ directory. Did you check there

I did. Thats the problem, I have multiple sub directories, which the images are sorted under. I just want it to open > compress > save.

simple.

or - it should be.

I tried looking at imageready and its droplets, but they add a flippin file extension as well.

if you encase the filename in quotes it shouldn't... that works for most other software

perhaps I'm misunderstanding but if you are saving a file in the filename box just put quotes around the actual name. see below:

I could be completely wrong tho but its worth a try, right? sorry in advance if its of no use to you

I have the same problem man, Ive been tryin to solve it aswel- i hate how it puts it into a sub images directory. Just how a hate when in photoshop if you open a .jpg make one little change and just want to save that .jpg over itself photoshop automatically tires to save the fucker as a .psd. I hate that SO FUCKING MUCH.

ok..think ive cracked it....if you go to the save for web box when recording.. instead of clicking save click done. Records the compression setting - not the save location. Gonna give er a whirlie pop now.

its not a setting is it. its basic understanding of file format and how ps deals with files.

There are some real pros around here. Try reading a book that tells you how to use Photoshop.

I think the point is that he doesn't understand why Photoshop prompts saving the document as a .psd.

what i do is create a bunch of droplets (jpeg 70%, 128 gif etc) that save out to a desktop folder. Then i drop the files onto the appropriate droplet then move those created files (after checking a couple) to the folder where they need to be. They'll just overwrite what's already there.

Its an extra few steps but it's safer than fucking up all your originals.

Depends what version of Photoshop you're using though. I think that way first appeared in CS...
