loading flash movies

would loading a flash movie of 1.6mb on every page of a website slow it down to a crawl.

i am thinking yes but just need the clarification to show my client that not only i think so

if its the same flash file and the user has cache enabled it will only need downloading once..

Yes, with a video you could use compression programs like sorenson's squeeze, and use progressive download. People will just leave before it loads, that would make their website a waste of time and money.

On a 56K, it will take about 4 minutes to download a file that big. They won't wait.

It could take a while on broadband, too. And if I'm on broadband and I have to wait for a website to load, I'm going to leave.
