My last work expirence job was given to me because I downloaded a copy of the program our school used to monitor all labs (netsupport School) and installed it on a machine in a back room. Then logged in as "god" at the end of the school day, let it run all night with the screen off. Next morning I came to my math class and got on the machine because my teacher didnt give a rip what we did or where we went. I randomly rebooted computers for about 15 mins, then shut down screens for about half an hour and promptly logged out. I went to the business/tech department head and told him what I did and that I would show him how to protect against (the monitoring program blocks all kinds of nifty stuff) The next day I was taken to the tech department and they told me i had to work for them for a limited ammount of time and then they would pay me if I worked out well. I worked there for 2 years before quitting when I started attending this Univeristy. I have since then made calls all over the place, being under the age of 22 really destroys any credibility you have with these department leads because most of them feel threatened by the fact that a kid half their age would have expirence in things that they cannot even wrap their minds around. I have a couple of good leads and next semester I start a "co-op" program Kettering University and I am desperately trying to squeeze my way into Oracle (got a buddy who works as a VP) with a CSE/Business Degree in mind. A good resume is allways the best way to get your foot in the door. I allways call and let them know I am going to be in the area and would like to provide them with a resume, then stop in and have a good chat with their secretary if he/she is available. Make a good impression with them because alot of people will consult them later on. Then talk to mr. cheese and try to woo him into the advantages of having a punk kid around to do the dirty work/deal with end users who forgot knocked out their ethernet cord and suddenly they cant log into novell so it must be that "we" deleted their login or changed their password because for the past 1234831247 weeks their computer has worked perfectly. I am not too familiar with getting jobs doing web design because you can do the majority of that stuff from home correct? I have only had barely over 2 years in this "field" so all I have is a couple of projects, my 1 work expirence job, a nice smile, and a hell of alot of words to spew at them if they are willing to listen. allright I'll stop talking my fingers off. |
