Its the first time i've been asked and i'm fucked if I know how to do it.

I just make a Flash movie and use SwishStudio to save as .scr. Bingo !!!
It might not be the greatest - but it works fine for me.

I'm sure you can get a 30 day demo that'll do you for your immediate needs.

didn't someone post that screenweaver had gone open source a couple of weeks ago?

opensource = free software
If sreenweaver has gone open I'd try that, I use flashWiz to make .scr files it's not expensive and very straightforward to use. I just bundle the cost of the software into the job
