The Toll of the Mailing List
So, I'm trying to set up a mailing list - a client wants to send a number of newsletter-style emails at any time - i.e. once a week to once a month. I may use phplist, as so many have suggested it. I'm also looking at http://mailing-list.us/ - which seems more lightweight after trying out the interface for phplist (ugh). My only question is that the site is hosted on a small account. Space isn't much of a concern, but bandwidth and the toll it will take on the server is my number one concern. If this list sends out, say, 50-100 emails each time (let's say...5 times/month for good measure) what's the toll going to be on the server? This should be very manageable on a run-of-the-mill shared account, right (in other words, I'm not going to make the host all uppity, am I)? Last edited by pgo : 31-08-2005 at 01:28. |

50-100 should be fine. But keep an eye on it, especially if you are in a hosted enviroment. Bigger mailouts can swallow up CPU processing time quite easily. Luke Redpath .::. Software Engineer .::. Reevoo - Real Reviews From Real Customers
