Van advert

Hi,
Right, I have project to design a van advert. Basically it will cover the whole of the van, the term is called vehicle wrapping, or something to that effect. I have the van template but as you can imagine the template is very large. Does anyone have any idea how to go about designing something this big? Or has anyone actually done anything like this before? If so could you please help me out, how to get started? I thought that the design would have to be 1 long strip and then it would be printed out and wrapped on to the van. But in all applications AI and photoshop you can not produce something this big. So I am assuming that I do it a 1/3 or even 1/2 the size it is suppose to be and then the printer will print it out at the correct size.

I hope someone can help me here?

Regards,

Dame.

Did you design just the strip and then supply it to the printer?

I've done a few. You need to go to a sign writer, not a printer. Applied vinyl graphics is what you're looking for.

I've done stuff for buses before, it was done as an .eps so as long as the ratio was correct the guy producing the visuals could enlarge as much as they like. Speak to the person who will be creating the van graphics from your artwork they will tell you what size they need it to be, if they say full size find someone else since they don't know what they are talking about

All these questions you should be posing to your printer / the client depending on who is giving you the specs for the final production. Have you been provided with templates / mesurements for the area's involved. What does the printer say about the amount of bleed you will require. Anyone here is just guessing, you need to ask the people who actually know!
