FireWorks - Dreamweaver interface question

Id like to design my own website and Dreamweaver didnt have the versatility to design, so I went to Fireworks but it cannot manage a site. (I'm new to Macromedia Dreamworks for a 3 weeks now and using learning video CD fr Teach-U-Comp. I dont know coding)

DW doesnt have Layers and not good as standalone to make apealing websites. Its like a Word processor where you can insert images one line at a time.

So I draw fr Fireworks and tried to insert the PNG to DW, and theres where I got stagnant. How do I make Firewoks work with Dreamweaver?

Your responses are appreciated.

I was accustomed to using InDesign, Illustrator where they have palletes to create sort of things. As I went further reading today about Macromedia stuff I noticed there are too much beaurocracy in the software to get it published.

They should have combined both. Is there any standalone Web design software that can do both? Theres too many clicks to do the interface. In DW alone to create layers you have to pass thru the menu call outs. I guess I have to live with this. I was thinking of designing my own simple site with some graphic of my own.

I dont want to learn HTML. too much to read. I can get use to this DW thingy. Ill just make the spare parts in FW > PNG files to DW, create layers to make it move around.

Thanks for your precense here guys; dan and oli

I want to make a 3 page website only one of each is Home, Portfolio and Contact. I go to FILE > NEW > ?????

see ya later

Okey, let me see if I can clarify this.

DreamWeaver is not a graphics software. It's an application used to create the (x)HTML code for websites. That means that bit usual users never get to see. What you're trying to do is like using MSWord to draw.

How familiar are you to photoshop? Create your layout there, use the slice tool and hit save as, web page. (or I think you can do the same thing in fireworks) I don't think you need to worry too much about coding at this point given that you really don't seem to know waht an HTML editor is.

Better yet, if you don't want to learn HTML, don't spend your money on DW. Pay a designer to do your site. Problem solved.

What's the point in trying to create a website if you don't want to learn the basics?
If you know about photoshop/illustrator, read up on creating a site from photoshop/illustrator slices..It's not ideal but I think it'll be what your after. There's loadsa tutorials out there, that explain simple integration of these programs with Dreamweaver. I probably wouldn't bother with fireworks at all...

Btw...Nobody said good web design was easy...
So invest some time and labour...

You wan't to design a website but don't want to learn HTML, thats like saying I want to build a house but can't be bothered with bricklaying. You will need a cursory understanding of html at best if you want to stand a chance of creatin anything half decent. If I were you I'd use illustrator/photoshop to design how yo want it to look and find/pay soemone to code it for you
