Is this meta stuff necessary?
Are the following meta declarations needed - what do they do that makes them advantageous/recommended? <meta name="title" content="blah.co.uk" /> <meta name="owner" content="blah" /> <meta name="copyright" content="blah" /> <meta name="author" content="me" /> Thanks |

IMO I would say that none of those meta tags are needed or are useful these days. The meta description tag is useful to provide a descriptive sentence under the SERP (search engine page result) but I can't see how those meta tags you've mentioned would have relevance to someone like Google. The page title, h1 and header tags and linkage data are the most important elements in most major search algorithms at the moment. You could look into "Dublin Core" metadata. This is a good article. |
