I get all my shit on amazon prime.

The cost savings on postage mean it's always cheaper for this sort of shiz

I was going to do that but all the cartridges on Amazon were going to come from a third party seller, and I need them tomorrow.

Spent ages going around the houses trying to get the best deal on Genuine.

Have you tried compatibles in it? I'm not keen to feed the old girl with anything less than genuine cartridges.

No point in scrimping on inks I think. I'm sure I used Amazon prime for it. Maybe just sub-seller through prime then?

Bollocks, got a big one of those just down the road.

Are they not horrifically overpriced in there?

Works out at about £45 if I remember rightly.

They do multi pack, then just get the black on top. Plus you get some free paper with the multi pack.

I've just bought a PIXMA ix4000, tried it out last night was a bit gutted with the results.

Printing direct from InDesign is giving pretty crap colours and quality. I've tried a few different settings with both matt and a photo gloss stock, they are all coming out looking like shite.

Reading the comments on here it sounds like there are a few of you that are happy with this printer. I must be doing something wrong, there's no way I could use the results I'm getting for a showing clients work or a to put in a folio.

Can any of you shed any light on the print set-up (printer profile etc) that you are using?

Print from acrobat. I get a better match than from a rip.

Not sure about what we're doing differently but I printed out my portfolio on mine last week and was very happy with the results. I was using HP matte paper, straight from Indesign using the quality slider at 3/4s and "high resolution paper" setting.

HP Professional 120 matt - Matte paper - bright white - A3 (297 x 420 mm) - 100 sheet(s): HP: Amazon.co.uk: Office Products

Cheers for the tips - Acrobat and paper recommendation.

Was using CS5 last night, fuck knows what I was doing but I can't remember having a quality slider in InDesign, just loads of new 'Printer Profiles' were added to the colour management section in the print dialog box.

At work now, I'll have to wait until tonight and have another crack at it then.

The slider was in the printer dialog menu.

I had mine set at the same place as the above.

To get to that dialogue click the 'printer...' button at the bottom of the In Design print dialogue:

Reviving an old thread but I'm on the market for a new A3 printer. The Canon ix4000 that's been very popular in this thread is now discontinued... I could probably try get it but it makes more sense to buy a new model.

Anyone bought a new A3 printer that they can recommend?

Cheers

Took the old girl out of the loft and moved her into my office. Pride of place. Inks ordered. Now just to design something worth printing.
