I bought a tablet

and this morning I've been clumsily navigating my way 'round my software and the net.

takes a bit of getting used to.

Yer I struggled with mine at first, due to wanting to spin it as thought it were paper so I could draw angles easier. Very good thing to have ocne you get used to it.

even tried playing a few gaes with it just for abit of fun.

Presumably you can have any number of input devices hooked up to the usb chain and simply use whichever one takes your fancy, right?
A tablet would go down well with me as I've found myself reintroducing organic illustration into my output.
I'm thinking an A4 would be a practical minimum for anyone planning to use it for freehand (the manner, not the app) illustration.
Would A4 be about right?

Yep. Mine (I guess most do) came with a mouse and you can switch between them depending what you're doing.

I only went for A6. I wasn't willing to pay anymore just now and that size is enough for the type of work I do.

I guess A4 (maybe get away with A5) would be your minimum.

tablet

I brought a tablet, couple of years back, quite cheaply, it was about £20.00 ($36.00) brand new, just an unknown sorta brand, its an only an A4 size on though.

I would imagine a huge A2 board would be great, loads of space to draw.

They really a useful invention imo, a real nice piece of kit, especially aiding in graphics creation.

I think there's quite few brands of tablets out there now, all offering pretty much the same thing, but quite cheap.

I can remember a time when tablets were unheard of and cost a fortune, times have changed!

Do they do them A2? you might as well put legs on it and call it a desk.

they are for people that design houses and stuff...

A5 does the job for me - even for drawing! might upgrade to A4 at some point but it's at the bottom of my list.

Bill: don't know about other makes but on Wacoms you can redefine the active area - so if you find the size "too big" you can customise it. ..

A5 might be too small with 2 monitors though... any experience anyone??

A5 would probably be too small for duel monitor, unless you had one set-up for each monitor, two A5's, but then they would both separately so I don't think it would be much use.

There are usually some good tablets to buy on eBay it’s always worth a look in case ex stock or something selling.

Wacom Ultra A2 Tablet spec here ..

Bah, that topic was far more interesting in my head than what the thread actually turned out to be about. I must remind myself it's Monday and not Friday night now...

I agree with cam........

very dull thread about designer tools as opposed to designer drugs......i bought fifty tablets recently. only cost a pound each.

they stop you from working almost completely and make you pull some smashing gurning faces !!!!!

I had a blazing row with the missus for telling her I'm gonna get off my tits on magic mushrooms while hiking down the north east coastline for a few days in a couple of weeks.

So much for being honest.

'don't sigh for me Mr Posters'

'twas the line underneath where the slight humour was to be found. As in : 'what's her problem with the North East coastline ?'

Do you see ?
Methinks it's subtlety was it's undoing.....

or it was just plain shit !!

Maybe i should go home and lie down ?
