I get their daily newsletter, and I rarely buy anything substanital, but now I'm looking. I know this is factory refurbished and HP, but what do you lot think about it for a 4th household computer(?):

HP Pavilion M9250f Media Desktop/Intel Quad/4GB/1000 GB (1 TB) (2 x 500)/GeForce 8600GT 512 MB Memory/WirelessLAN/$650

Thanks for taking a look.

It will likely just be for general day-to-day use...nothing too fancy. Mostly the missus buggering about on facebook -- and some pounding on the keyboard (eventually) by the little homegrownclone.

For $650, it seems like a good fit.

If a similar one comes back on sale I guess you might aswell go for it, it should exceed your needs by about 20 fold but the price is good and you might make other use of it later on. The only thing that bothers me is the shitty graphics card, the processor and memory would probably be bottlenecked by it, so don't plan on playing the latest AAA titles at decent settings/resolutions!
