Mowning...

I'm planning on treating myself to a new computer today, a 24" I mac. I fancy doing a bit of freelance on the side and my current four year old powerbook is due a quiet retirement, after years of faithful service.

I'm probably going to get it from Amazon (£1139)/The Apple Store (£1149), but if anyone can point me in the direction of a better deal, and preferably interest free monthly payments, that'd be mucho appreated!

John Lewis do free delivery, match the Apple Store price, and extend your 1 year warranty to 2 years for free.

find a mate who is a student, borrow him and get educational discount. I'd offer you mine but I'll be using it to buy one myself soon and think your only allowed one desktop.
a 24 incher goes down to £1305 for the top one or £1,079 for the slower 24 incher.

Apple only check the student discount thing in store, they trust you to be a student when making an online purchase (or so I hear).

Hmm, thanks lads, lots of useful advice.

I fucking hate credit cards, I know a debts a debt, but I've got an irrational fear of them. Think I'll pop into JL for a swatch today and see what their offering.

ha ha. Yeah strangely enough, we just replaced our missing ones with some nice 24" iMacs. But now we got an alarm CCTV and i get chained up at night. Kinda like a guard dog.

Yeah, it took me a while to get used to them, but they're not only handy but let you build your credit rating too

true. i couldn't get a mortgage with anyone bar my own bank - due to have been too gooder boy.

the credit system is squarely aimed at people who are averagely bad with money... by far the most profit is made from them.

All you need to do to get student discount is enter in a town/city and a college name. It's what I did.
