Turns out I bought a TN panel in error when I bought my new setup, is the difference between TN/PVA/S-IPS huge? What should I be looking for when buying a new monitor?

Monitors are one of those funny things in any design that is going to be displayed on a screen. I have a SyncMaster 226bw from Samsung and love it. I also have a FP93G x from Benq and its also amazing. However there colors are slightly different. People on these boards are talking about these 1 or 2 grand monitors. Their advice is great if your going to be displaying your work on a proper monitor or if your getting it printed. Only problem is if your designing graphics for a website then there really is no reason to design on one (besides that they are amazing ) Your end user is not going to have an amazing monitor, they are going to have a $100 or $200 if even that. Having a nice monitor will help you because it will be easier on your eyes and show you the true colors, but you need to realize that your end user will most likly not be seeing it, if your doing work that will be displayed on a monitor.
