My old monitor with a macbook

I am not exactly technologically eloquent, so bear with me.

I have an old G4 at home, but am thinking of getting a macbook. Can I use my old original monitor and keyboard/mouse with said macbook?

If so what do I need, and what are the pitfalls?

Cheers.

keyboard/mouse nah problem.

your monitor is probably vga - you'll need to check that - if so you'll need some sort of 'mini-dvi' to 'vga' adapter for the monitor.

warning.. i once tried to cobble together a link using both my apple 'mini-dvi to dvi' and 'dvi to vga' adapters... doesn't work!

VGA

So you need a MINI-DVI to VGA.

be aware that the laptop screen will probably be better quality... but you can set the monitor to extend the desktop so you can work over two monitors... or just play flicking the mouse pointer between the two screens and saying... oooooh

Cheers sunshine.

So when set up to the macbook, will the image quality of the montior be worse than if it was attached to my G4 tower?

Your MacBook can support 1920 by 1200, I'd buy a new screen...
