Sick deal on a 56" Plasma From Buy.com

How are they making any money on this?

Samsung HL-T5676S - 56'' New Slim Depth Widescreen DLP HDTV - 1080p

It's quite tempting, and I'm quite tempted...

Will you be able to benefit from the HD though? Is the US already broadcasting or cablecasting content in HD? $1,150 sounds like quite a bargain. My guess is that the model was designed with a certain market in mind but due to some technological change, the specs are no longer suitable for that market, so Samsung has about 10,000 surplus HDTVs to dump!

You're kidding right? Over 150 HD channels via DirecTV. I mean, I'd love for all of them to be in HD, but it's coming soon enough. NTM, Blu-Ray is at its finest at 1080p.

Interesting, but CNET users gave it a 6.8/10 aerage. A couple of 9s and a couple of below 6's...

So I don't really know, shoot, for the money it seems amazing... tho CNET has it listed from $999 - $1999 so I dunno the true price.

I'd read the first review on it at CNET, the 2/10 one.

You could ask some people who know what they are talking about whether it's a good deal.

AVForums Home

AV forums, AV TALK, home cinema forum, forums UK home cinema

(I couldn't find any good American AV sites.)

I have the 46" version of this and its great. HD looks awesome and blueray even sweeter, and the 5.1 surround and you have no reason to go the movies...

Its very tempting indeed...anyone want a 46" for $800?
