Dual Monitor Setup - Recommend me yours!
You are probably going to laugh at me for this, but I'll post it anyway. ![]() I run CentOS Linux on the laptop on the left "monitor", and Windows XP64 on the right monitor. I use a KVM switch to switch control of just the keyboard and mouse to either computer. Ideally I'd like to be able to hide the laptop somewhere in my desk and hook it up to a monitor, then put both monitors side by side. I need to be able to see both screens at the same time, so can't just use the KVM as it was designed. So I need to get 2 monitors which are the same and have thin edges so I can fit them. Thinking about getting 20-22 inch ones if I can fit them on my corner desk (another problem). My current 19" monitor has a glass screen which is annoyingly reflective, though remarkably easy to clean - but I wont be buying another! I'm not a fan of glossy/shiny screens either. What monitor(s) do you have, would you recommend it? |

i used to use 2 of those xerox. liked them but the glare can't be a cunt. got a 19" dell and a 21" wide fujitsu in the work, but here is my home setup. laptop has ubuntu and desktop has xp lite i would recommend the fujitsu 19" which i have at home. decent and good for the price i paid. obviously you can get better. I like the setup in the work i have, dell which is good for testing what 'most' people will see and widescreen for check different res. thinking about getting dual boot on the desktop and scrapping the laptop. |

Using dual 19" Acer AL1916W displays. I run 2880X900 Res on 2 cards. GeForce FX 5200 PCI and another AGP (same model). Anal Retentive? Oh ya, but its soooooo pretty. I wanted to hook up a third (the PCI is a dual head) but the wife said it was "excessive". I mean come on, its not that bad.....right? |

I have a triple monitor setup with 2 wide-screens (Viewsonic) on the outside and a standard size (KDS) in the middle. It works, but I wish there was a way to output my laptop's video to all 3. I've looked constantly and have found nothing. Feel free to suggest something... Samsung also came out with these, and I really like their products -- especially monitors/TVs: SAMSUNG's Digital World - Solution Series | 940UX I'd much rather daisy chain 3 like this instead of having to worry about a graphics card to handle the trip setup. That said, I wonder if the response time is really what they say it is when 3 are set up together. I mean, can USB really handle all of that? fun: HGC v.4 | last.fm: DT | me | oi! f*ck u roto: ...via meebo!

Now with added sarcasm.

Using 2 x 19" LG Flatron powered by NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT/GTP - love it (although I might have opted for a step or two up on the card itself rather). @roto ... like that Samsung setup though. I made 100 posts and all I got is this stupid signature.

Fair call. I've got to say, if you're using windows, it does make sense to be able to use up every bit of screen real estate with two screens. I've had both styles of setup, but for OSX, for me, a nice big 30" Cinema display is the way to go. |

Since this is still going on, I will paypal anyone a $20 tip if you can find a triple monitor video-output that will support 3 wide-screen monitors -- an external-type card solution would be the best since I want to output from my lappy. Please don't suggest Matrox...I've tried that route. fun: HGC v.4 | last.fm: DT | me | oi! f*ck u roto: ...via meebo!
