I don't think this is possible generally. From my experience, laptops can extend to other monitors, but lack the capability to act simply as a monitor themselves. I could be wrong about this. If you could find one that can do this, you'd need a video card in your desktop (the computer you want to have dual monitors) that has 2 video outs (2 x VGA, DVI, or one of each). |

I am sure it is possible, since the video card outputs to the monitor, the cable and monitor is a bit different but same concept and same program, its only a matter of outputing different data to the video card from... perhaps USB? I know it is not standard and I do not really need this just thought it would be interesting to do that and I could have an extra monitor, though it might require a custom program or be complicated to accomplish, just thought Id ask if someone has done this or not... Either way, yes I do have a video card with 2 outputs, but I just might buy another monitor when I have money for it... |

If the laptop had a video card or USB device with analogue input I suppose with cable converters it might be possible but it's a hell fo a way to try to get a display and still might not work when you could buy a new monitor for less than £100.. |
