PVR help

Dudes, just upgraded my desktop at home coz it's preety cack with vista on it, and as it's a sexy shuttle, I wanna make it into a PVR in my living room.

Decided to give | Mythbuntu a go on it and if I can't figure it out as Linux is completely unknown territory for me, I'll resort to XPMediaCentre.

Now the missing link is a TV card that will go in it/USB or even firewire, that I will be able to plug the signal from my Virgin box into.

Any ideas??

You can hook up a Dbox2 to virgin and then have that send the signal off to your PC.

DBox2 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Get a Nokia one off ebay if you do.

Do a bit of research in it first tho to check it does what you're after. I've recorded a few tv shows using mine so I know it works.

Just my PC and that. I think I used VLC player to watch it and if I remember right you just create a shared folder on your pc then point the Dbox to that in the dboxes record setup. Then you can schedule times itll record similar to sky+ or just press the red button on the remote to set it sending the stream over the network. I dont know what quality it outputs the video at so you may want to check that. If you google dbox theres shit loads of forums on it.
