Mac Mini
OK. So Leopard is out and I am now craving for a mac even more! I fancied a MacBook because I could do with a laptop but at the moment I don't have the money for it. But with a mac Mini its like £400, I get to keep my kick-ass monitor and have a mac with leopard. Sounds like a "FTW!" jobby but is it good value for money?? Do you knwo fi they'll be updating the design or anything of the mac Mini like they have with the MacBook pro and iMac? Thanks guys. Mac Buyer's Guide: Know When to Buy Your Mac, iPod or iPhone Bear in mind there have been a number of rumours (totally unconfirmed) that Apple have been considering dropping it. |

I'm also considering picking up a Mac Mini. At $599 it's a steal. And since I'm upgrading my Windows PC with another GB of RAM and wireless input devices so I can use my 40" HDTV as a monitor (drool), I'll have a 20" widescreen LCD and a wired mouse/keyboard/speakers that I can hook up to the Mac Mini. I know, I know. Shock, horror. Thing is, as much shit as I talk on Apple, it would be best for me to learn the platform inside and out. A lot of employers use Macs in this industry and it would be helpful to be able to test my sites locally instead of relying on my Mac-weilding compatriots. |

if you hook it up to your main TV, you can use it as your media centre: equinux - Website I'm considering setting it up for my parents, as I'm not sure they'd be too happy with my XBMC solution. |

You're going to have even more shock and horror when it finally dawns on you that you've been moaning about something that pisses all over what you've been using for the last god knows how many years. But good luck with that. It's nice to see you're on the road to recovery. |

all that gloss and shit, screen's unusable, white cables, black back, etc... I wanted to upgrade a 24 inch imac, but I think I'll just get a mbp instead and keep my white 20" imac for the time being. Running Tiger, too. Leopard is just as disappointing in terms of looks. |

once i almost considered a mac mini till i found out the latest model was the equivalent of my pc which was several years older and several hundred dollars cheaper at the time of purchase. besides buying one to learn the platform i can't see a single logical reason why anyone would choose a mac over pc. don't sip the mac kool-aid! |

Not the interface, Patrick. I love Tiger the way it is now. The exterior of the iMac looks too "American" for me now. Just like the iPhone. Just because Apple builds them it does not mean I will kill myself over it if it's crap. You might be disappointed in the mac mini, too. No video card, heating problems etc. If I were you I'd dig deeper in my pockets and get a pro tool. But it's your money. I always thought that if I'm poor I'd better get the best tool available as there is no point in me upgrading it in a couple of months. On the other hand I don't get that complaining apple is expensive when you get it for half the price I have to pay it, out of my monthly income, two times smaller than what an American makes. |

Kinda ironic, given that the Mac Mini is probably about the worst overall value of the entire range. |
