I'm a hardware-o-phobe

we currently use a netgear wireless router plus 2 netgear wireless usb adapters for the PCs (the mac uses airport).

we're about to buy one of these - http://www.morecomputers.co.uk/textr...#specification

will the netgear usb adapters still work? They don't have to be the same make as the router I mean? daft question?

Yes it will work with your existing setup, shame you spent THAT much on a router, you were conned for what it does. Very soon 802.11n will be out, so you should of just bought a router and a separate network drive. Too much in that one box to go wrong.

Besides, since the fuck when did Asus make routers, should of gone with a known brand.

I spent that much because it's not just a router.

802.11n is months away and that's even before they even start guaranteeing compatibility which will no doubt be months after that.

True, but if either the modem, router, wireless access point or hard drive parts of that device fails - you have to bin the whole lot. I now have a separate modem, router and external hard drive.

That way if anything new comes out I can get it, and if anything dies I can replace it. Costs more to begin with, but you save in the long run.

Anyway, spent your money takes your chances. Asus do make decent kit, but never heard of them selling network equipment.

Works like a dream btw.

Best part is the bit torrent client carries on truckin' with the computers off. Downloaded the first 6 episodes of Heroes last night. Work you say? Today?
