7200rpm laptop hard drive

how much improvment does 7200rpm have over 4200rpm harddrives? I read some mac forum and a few user said the 5400rpm is almost as fast as the 7200rpm ones, what you do guys think of that?

if your using Final Cut Pro or Avid, etc then its helps to have that faster revolution, if not... eh... you can live without it...

In 2006, I'd be hard pressed to accept a slow drive like 5400rpm (especially with a large drive).

7200 is sufficient for most things, though.

That doesn't necessarily mean you need a new drive. What about ram, for example?

this topic is about laptop drives, not desktop drives.
