I've got a mac!

I've finally gone and done it.. I got a 12" powerbook off ebay. It's AMAZING! I can't get over how sweet it is. Perfect size to stick in the bag and go off anywhere.. powerful as - I stuck another gig of ram in it and it's just quick. Everything happens almost instantly. Never really used OSX for more than a minute or so previously, but I'm really impressed with it. Few things I don't quite understand about it but it's such a nice, clean operating system.

I was on the bus on the way home from London yesterday from picking the powerbook up (and seeing some mates). Had the laptop and wireless lan turned on and as we were driving through the city, and every few minutes it kept on prompting me to see if I wanted to join an open wireless network. Clicked "yes", hitchhiked a ride on someone's LAN for about 10 seconds before the bus went down the road. It was great! I was well impressed.

Same with bluetooth which I've been battling with on my windows pc for the last couple of weeks - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and I can't figure out a reason why it shouldn't. Had my phone with bluetooth turned on, turned on bluetooth on the powerbook.. they found each other straight away.. had absolutely nothing to do. Fantastic.

And then installing applications - I couldn't believe it was as simple as opening a .dmg file and dragging the contents onto my hard drive. Application installed.. next?

Wonderful..

Windows bluetooth support is incredibly poor. Unfortunately, Linux's bluetooth support is even worse.

I'm quite happy with Linux but OSX does look really appealing, as does the new MacBook. I just don't think I could justify the cost though.

today i've been seriously contemplating paying the upgrade to ilife06. it appears to be a simple, bullet-proof digital life. how long till it comes with free gap vouchers?

Obligatory computer nerd joke: I'll buy it when it comes with a girlfriend with equally sleek curves.

Note the use of "curves" not "rolls".

If you like Bluetooth and you're phone's compatible - check out this little app:

Salling Clicker the most diabolical piece of pimp shit I've seen.

Grab yourself a copy of quicksilver as well; http://quicksilver.blacktree.com/

It's totally free and excellent.

I keep on wishing there was an equivalent for when I'm on my windows box in work.
