Crap. amateur crap. What is like everyone on this board right out of uni? I've said it before and I'll say it again the stuff being held up as great design today (and mostly by people on this board) can be done by any idiot who knows photoshop. Geesh. INSPIRE ME COME ON!

You're the one who linked to http://www.deedee914.com/ .

That shit qualifies as "amateur crap" more than anything on the site this thread is linking to. I mean, that deedee shit is really, really bad. Some of the worst self-described "art" I've ever seen. Deedee9:14 - a.k.a "The Abstract Version of Thomas Kinkade". Seriously. And she didn't even need to know Photoshop!

Come on, inspire me.

It doesn't inspire me, but I think it's lovely.

And all great design before could be done with a ruler and a pencil, technical difficulty is no way to measure art

Layers, transparency, gradients, various filters/brushes, blurs, feathering.

Tinkering basically.

I've never done anything like it, so I couldn't give you a tutorial.

Computer Arts #100 - September 2004,

The tutorial's by Chuck Anderson of Nopattern, and it's called "Add Another Dimension", in case they have it on their site as a £1 download or whatever.
