i don't know owt about photoshop apart from the desaturate option. I've only just got hold of the program.

It's not essential but i'd like to know.

Layers, transparency, gradients, various filters/brushes, blurs, feathering.

Tinkering basically.

I've never done anything like it, so I couldn't give you a tutorial.

The tutorial's by Chuck Anderson of Nopattern, and it's called "Add Another Dimension", in case they have it on their site as a £1 download or whatever.
