colour changing clock. I bought one of them for my now fiance for our first valentines presents. Could have been easier to use but looked cool as.

most japanese homes use top-loader washing machines, so anything like the above, flashing lights or not, is seen as alien and immediately desirable.

That's actually more ergonomic because it's at an angle you don't have to bend down (at least that's what it looks like in the picture).
