Vintage Logotypes

I found these gorgeous old logotypes through Scott Hansen's ISO50 blog.

Eric Carl (Sans Concept) has posted about half of the pages from the out of print World of Logotypes book to his flickr. You can also download them all in handy zip form from his blog.

Unfotunately Eric's site is down at the moment so I've uploaded the zip so you can access it here.

Simple is always best. Look at how clean and pleasing those logos are!

Heavily dated Seventies stuff. Unfortunately, it's exactly the style I churn out. Big bold clunky logos you can see a mile away. None of these delicate shapes with pretty gradients for me!

Nice little find. It's amazing to see how many of those logo's have been reproduced / influenced today in many logos/design contests. Brings a smile to my face knowing that alot of "originality" today stems from the days-o'-drainpipes!
