3D MAX with audio

I'm currently working in a 3D animation that features a robot character.

The plan is to give the root a mouth light, that lights up when he talks - not lip sync animation or anything to technical, just a flash when he talks.

Rather than spending hours animating the light to the audio, I wondered if there was an easier way; does anyone know if there is a plugin or feature that can make an objects properties react to sound in 3D MAX?

"With Foley Studio MAX, 3ds max™ users can effortlessly add .wav files that interact with your scenes in 3D space. As a simple example, you can attach a footstep sound to a walking character and specify that the sound be triggered every time a step is taken. This powerful functionality gives you the ability to turn your 3ds max environment into a fully functional sound stage"

a bargain at *cough*

Foley Sound $379.00

cheers Fed3raL, may well give that a go (if I can find a cheaper version )

For the time being, I've managed to attached an audio file to the colour attribute of an object - so the wave form controls the colour, which works fine for what I want.

I'll put the url up when it's done. There'll be two versions, one for a dvd - full screen, proper frame rate and sound track- and one for web. It's likely that I'm going to have to hack the frame rate down considerably and make the screen size pretty small - i'll be using Flash's video compression.
It's looking ok at the moment, but the robot is starting to turn a bit camp!
