All the cards I've ever been asked to design have been either 85 x 54mm or 89 x 51mm

Although moo.com have some slim cards that seem quite popular.

You not got a ruler? or at least the ability to use Google?

A search that could of taken you a few seconds resulted in you having to wait 17 minutes for your answer. The flat earth society welcomes you.

How long's a piece of string, that's only standard for America.

85x55mm everywhere I know of usually in the UK.

They are the size they are, so they can fit in a wallet with a credit card.

85x50 is the average.

I think business cards should be invididual in their size, they're supposed to grab the attention of your potential clients right?

The standard size specified by ISO 7810 ID-1 is the same size as credit cards: 85.60mm x 55mm, but the A8 paper size is also used (74 x 52mm).

Beware! US = 89 x 51 while Japan = 91 x 55

Maybe, but you have to keep in mind that business cards are meant to be kept in wallets. Too big and they won't fit, too small and it will just look stupid.
