I hate all these super pretentious designers that are so embroiled in bleeding edge design innovation, they create crap graphics and expect everyone to understand it. Like the 2012 logo, it's definately different and might tickle the tastebuds of the creative elite but 90% of the public despise it, and they are the ones who will have to put up with it over the next five years. They should have commisioned a company to design an identity that would be appreciated by the people it's supposed to represent. Personally I can't think of anyone that would appreciate a magazine that utilises differences in kerning in the same headlines, random skewing, colours that don't go together and so on. (rant over) |

As someone mentions in the comments theres good and bad ugly. 90% of designers and 100% of your audience won't understand the difference... and neither did the people who designed the new Wacom logo. Theres brutalist, and then theres shit. Wacom is going to be rebranded in 3 years or less, a faddy logo never lasts. unconsolidated isoparms

Kind of like fashion. What you wore in the 70s you can wear nowadays. What you designed in the 90s, you can use nowadays. |
