Adbusters Logo- How did they do it?

(I apologize if this is not the right section to post this...I wasn't sure where to post it since I'm showcasing something, but also asking for some advice...)

I really like this Adbusters masthead, and was wondering how to do this on the computer? I'm guessing it has something to do with Illustrator's 3D Extrude effect, but I can't get it to be angled as well, like they have it coming from one point.

Thanks!

an ancient app by adobe called Dimensions could probably do that.

but i would do it by hand.. outling the text, copying, pasting, scaling.. then joining up the points by hand to get the perspective effect.

Shwizle - Kurmie's post is perfectly sensible and helpful. A blend in Illu would work, providing there were enough intermediate stages.
As for me, I'd draw the 3D effect by hand and be finished with it in under ten minutes.

wtf, what do you mean how did they do it.
You've got a pen-tool in illustrator, learn to use it. Piece of cake to do this by hand. Not every graphic feature requires a plugin or built in button for it.

And yeah a blend's probably even easier.

For Gods sake! There was a time everything was done by hand, you don't need any fancy tools. Just learn how to draw in perspective and you can make it in the even the oldest version of Illustrator.

It was probably done with Illustrator's blend tool or the 3D Extrude & Bevel filter. Easy enough.

Personally, I still use KPT Vector Effects in Illustrator 8 to get this kind of look, but the blend tool can be useful for making an uneven, sorta aloof 3D effect. You'd just take the object in the background and scale it horizontally.

3d extruded lettering and deleted counters. That's what's happening.
