Help with photoshop layout?

When you make those nice looking web layouts you guys make in PS. What do you do with from there? How do you add your links? Our even better..Say I on my home page and I click on a link, do I use the same layout for that content?

For someone new to it I guess you would wanna check out Fireworks. Pretty easy for slicing. And take it to Dreamweaver for content and stuff.

Or if you wanna do it right from start, learn xhtml and css. Do graphic light layouts in photoshop, slice whatever you need manualy and then rock in to the world of code.

Lmao that's a bit too much information there.

If you're using photoshop use the slice tool (K) and cut out your layout. Then File > Save For Web and it should allow you to save an HTML file and images. The HTML file will look exactly like what you have on your photoshop canvas.

I just did my 1st layout in photoshop and sliced and saved it for web but when i opened it in dreamweaver its in a table. is that right?
the first one i sliced up sliced up the text aswell but i deleted the bits of text (as .jpg's) and added them as normal text in dreamweaver
what about CSS? do i only have css to style the text?
ive probably got it all wrong haha

When you slice a layout in PS it should come up as a table, the best way to make it so you can add text is to get the image name, make that the background image of that cell and delete the picture in the cell. There are numerous guides on the internet to doing so. Personally.. I really can't code so I use Frontpage to do all my coding and then my friend comes and does all the scripts.. works well

just a thought

This may be a silly question but have u tried using image ready? (if u have photoshop you will have imageready) its not the best web program by any means but u can get a good feel for making links, slicing 4 buttons and so on. as for a step by step we would be here 4 ever. There are a range of step by step sites u can go to to help you learn. but my honest advice find a program you like for the web design, get it and play with it you will learn as you go just dont jump into the scripting to quick.

PEACE

When i took my Web design for dummies they used this same technique...not the best but it got the job done. I personally suggest you maybe read up on it or go to www.lynda.com and check out some webcasts on web design.

There just isn't a simple answer. It's kinda like asking ok...now how do I go about putting braces on someones teeth. One would say drill some holes, put some metal on them, screw them in - thread some wire thru and your off.

But if I'm correct I think there is a little more to it.

Don't ask me where I came up with the braces story...It's pretty close to bedtime for me.

Photoshop layout in website designing

Normally all the designs n layouts r made in photoshop. after tht u have to slice it in different slices with the slice tool n then u have to import it in dreamweaver or in an html coding (wht so ever u r using) after that just give links to the small jpegs or slices (which u r using as a button) . this is the only way u use ur photoshop layout in web links.
i hope it will help u alot.

I'm starting to learn that trying to make a beautiful site by hand with xhtml and css is a pain in the ass. It makes so much more sense to design and slice in photoshop. But I lack a legal copy... LOL anyone know if GIMP will auto slice? what about Paint.net?
