ok so here's the problem. im making a free form path by tracing an image with the pencil tool, onto a new layer. i made one path and everything went fine. now im working ona second path, and everytime try to add a new line to the new path, the prior line dissapears!?!?! does this discription make sense. please help me out.

You are not using the wrong Pencil no? That would be so fun if you did!

I had the same problem as well. personally I reinstalled illustrator to get rid of the prefernces. I am kind of new to illustrator myself, I can only imagine that there is a simpler solution.
