Illustrator Slicing

Anyone have any tips about slicing in Illustrator(version 10)?
I'm trying to slice up a design but can't achieve any accuracy, Snap To Point is turned off (as are all Snap To options and the slices aren't locked), but I can't drag a slice to the exact point I want to?

Any ideas?

("Don't use Illustrator" is only acceptable if you can provide an effective alternative )

Cheers

BY "turned off" I presume you mean turned on, but unavailable/ineffective, right?

Are the items with the points you are attempting to snap to - locked? or on a locked layer?

I mean that "Snap To Point" and "Snap to Grid" are not selected (out of choice) because that means my slices miss the points I'm trying to drag them too as well.

None of the items are locked or on a locked layer.

I've bought it into Photoshop as an EPS for now, but it seems a crazy way of doing things.
