Inspiration project
What about a group project where everyone picks a favorite designer or type foundry and made a few pages of all their best works. Then if u ever need inspiration, instead of searching websites or pictures you've saved, etc. you can just go through one pdf, or print it out and flip through your own little book of inspiration :P Here's my examples...Let me know what you think, or any ways to improve on the idea. A better way to organize the content or type. Anything really. Even if we got like 10 designers to do this it would be a great little resource...at least i think so. Type from veer: Random Fonts Script Fonts Design Elements From Frost One Page Example Full Five Pages Guidlines... so far. (add sugguestions if u got any!) 1. Files set at 300 dpi. 2. File set at cmyk. 3. Try to stay at 10-50 images per page. (Big enough to see when printed but not wasting paper) 4. Try to include the designer/typefoundry name to give credit. Also try to send it with the web address/ book/ wherever u got the images from, so at the end we can make a sort of bibliography. 5. Final format sent as a pdf. Sweet theres 1! Veni any ideas on improving the project? Did u pick a designer or typefoundry yet? Better way to organize the info or anything? I figure we make a list of all the participants and the designer or typefoundry they are going to catalogue so we don't get duplicates. Also we can put togethar a master book with all the participants and everytime someone knew contributes we update the book. what do u think? |

awesome! He's got some great tick san serif type, i'm lovin it! Anyone else want to join? Anyone have any good ideas on personal binding, so it's more like a book than a 3-ring binder? Has to be easy to add and remove pages for new editions though. |

here is another design firm called Thirst/3st. I found from their book spot in ID: Another 5 pager. For this one i used a bit bigger examples, could have got it down to like 3 pages but i think i like it better bigger. |

I think that's an amazing idea. I spend so much time on the web just browsing for inspiration! It would be nice to have an entire page of inspiration inspired directly by designers! lol hee hee How do I contribute & get on board? |

Sweet thats two so far! Just go ahead and pick one of your favorite designers or Type Foundries, go through their work putting what you like onto a print ready pdf or esp file. Email me and i'll host it for the people who contribute. I was going to put them into one large file but that would take forever to download so i will just email the ones who contribute with new additions! We've got a few pdf's going so far, i'll start a list with the designers/typeographers/typefoundries and another one with contributing members. So designers covered so far we have: 3 Deep, Orange, Grady McFerrin, Feltron Seven, FastLikeRabbit, DesignGraphy, Martyn Reding, Christopher J. Hewitt, Lee-Yan Marquez, Telekinetik, Remain Modernist, nterface, design chutney, heavy creative, supershapes, studio, playground, loveworm, Nuphorm, archrival, douglas seyller, johnathan schmid, Kitsh, axis five, Qube Konstrukt, Twin Theory Design, e fire, frost, thirst, and Veer. If you want to get these files for inspiration you have to contribute your own! Last edited by j_polo9 : 11-03-2006 at 21:56. |
