Hi,

First off i'm a photoshop user and have now started to use more illustrator. Basically I am trying to save money on artwork.

Basically I need to know how I create a 5mm margin for my letterheaded template. Its an A4 size document. I'm presuming I can use guides, but how do I get it so its dead on 5mm, also the ruler tool doesn't seem to be sticky (where as you measure approx 5mm and then grab the guide out to match the ruler. In photoshop you can do it, but in Illustrator the ruler vanishes once you release the mouse).

Any tips would be most grateful.

drag out a guide, unlock it (command / alt / semi-colon), selct the guide (it should turn blue), then type in measurement in the X axis in the TRANSFORM TAB
