in need of an illustrator tip on text effect
hi all, i am willing to learn how to apply such solid shadows to my text/images: as you can see the text looks like it's thick and it's almost 3d-ish, so it's a different effect from the one one would achieve by just duplicating the text level and nudging it some pixels to the bottom/left (or right). thank you for your help. |

hi subcircle, thank you for your contribution. unfortunately drop shadow does not get me anywhere near to the effect I want to achieve.. as you may see, the drop shadow is actually 'detached' from the text level, as it's resting on a different surface. what I want to do is, instead, add that sort of 3d look to my text (see sample file), but the 3d effects cant' help me because I need the main text not to be revolved/moved around. Hope i made myself clear.. later **UPDATE** I found a tutorial.. http://www.wowwebdesigns.com/power_guides/3d_text/ if you don't want a smooth colour transition just duplicate the text level one extra time, use same colour for both the foreground and background text and blend them, then align the extra text copy to the two blended ones according to your needs and taste.
