Hi, I have designed a site for a company with a branded map of where they are. It also has a downloadable PDF of directions that is also branded. I have avoided to use multimap, as I feel it shows lazy design. Can anyone back me up on this and if they know of any articles or discussions on why we should be branding our own maps and directions, rather then displaying a link.

The client is adamant that they want multimap and they want evidence from me on why it should not be used.

why not offer both? a lot of people use these maps and b'cos of that they're used to them and know how they work. continuity and usability...

What like a link to multimap? Perhaps, I just don't want it ending up looking tacky. Too many b2b sites have too many plugged in content rather than original branded content.

If you have to use a mapping site Gmaps would be a better alternative IMO.Google will display the mapped location and business listing.
