So yeah, Canada
So, I've pretty much decided I need to leave the States for awhile and I think I will begin with Canada, and more specifiacally, Toronto. More than likely, I will go up next month to scout around a secure a place to stay, so I am looking forward to that. Any other things a fine American fellow such as myself should be on the look out for when I cross the border? And advice is appreciated, of course... |

Ditch fucking TO, too crowded and too much pollution, and way to many damn people. Not to mention stupid rent. Come to Calgary, Alberta. Fucking sweet, mountains, clean air, booming economy. Seriously, people who can't find jobs here have serious issues. (you'd be WAY better off :P) Just my two cents, plus westerners and easterners have a shitty feud about who is better (even though we are richer). Good luck, Canada can be a fun place... just be prepaired to be chased by moose, elk, deer, and otehr furry four-leggers... (jk) |

I'm going to reserve judgement on Calgary seeing as I've never been. Plus I don't want to offend anyone. lets just say they all seem to like line dancing & Shania Twain and leave it at that. Hey Toronto is not that crowded. In fact it's very UNcrowded compared to your average UK city. thats one of the first things that struck me when I came here. plus I've found rent and general living expenses pretty cheap. anyway, when you get over here walk down Queen St West . Tons of bars/shops/galleries on this street and it will give you a nice idea of what it's like here. Terroni on Queen = nice pizza the Harbourfront is worth a visit. also If you've got an afternoon spare take a boat over to the Toronto islands. only takes 15 mins. Kensington Market is an interesting place. If you're in the area call in to the Embassy for a pint. The dog in there is very anti-social, but nice owners. for places to live check out this link - http://www.boldts.net/Toronto.shtml it lists all the neighbourhoods. |
