Good. I always marvelled at your system that allows one criminal to be sentenced more than once. Here criminals only get to serve the longest sentence. And if they're good sometimes they get out earlier... I wish we could sentence criminals to two life terms, and sometimes I wish death sentence hadn't been abolished. (At least fot rapists, child molesters, etc) |

Yeah, I go back and forth on the death penalty - as I'm sure most people do. Unless I'm mistaken, the multiple life terms thing is applied for multiple crimes, which I'm sure this man was charged with (terrorism, murder of a police officer, assault w/a deadly weapon, possession/use of illegal explosives, and so on could all be options I would imagine). When I was little I never understood how someone could get "two life terms" - I wondered if they kept them in prison after they died. Of course, I didn't really think that was true, but I was confused, nonetheless. |

veering off-topic I know, but while the death sentence may seem like the only punishment fit for people like that, you've got to bear in mind that there is always the possibility you could be wrongly convicted, even with the whole forensic science thing going on. i think life (meaning just that .. the rest of your life) imprisonment is a fair compromise |

He would, may he rest in peace. George Carlin has plenty to say on the subject... Quote:

Read a a book called "The Damage Done" which about some bloke who spent 7 years in a Thai prison, some of the stuff they did to him is absolutley mental. They have a game where they put you in a wicker basket and the elephants play football with you, they soon become impatient though and just stamp on teh ball. |
