saw a bunch of women dressed as witches lining up outside borders last night - what the fuck is all that about, fecking weirdos. They actually made the Star Wars lot look cool, and that's saying something.

I don't have it. I won't have it - but the missus will.

I got the first 5 in Audio Books, haha. Thinking man's way to read.

Kills the time on my way to work anyway.

I've not read any of the harry potter books.. are they any good? people seem to be going apeshit over them all the time. I try my best not to buy into mass hysteria but this one has me curious.

Someone whose opinion I greatly trust (my father) said they sucked. He couldn't get through the first one after my little sister read it. He wondered what ever happened to good fantasy writing - Lord of the Rings, essentially.

I feel that's probably an accurate assessment and will avoid reading childrens' books for now.

the hysteria around them initially put me off reading them, but after being lent the first one I've got into them ('half blood prince got delivered this morning!). Their not the piniacle of literature but are damned hard to put down and are nothing like the films, which are largely shit.

Get / borrow the first one and see for yourself (it's the shortest of the lot so if you don't like it you won't of wasted too much of works time!

I'm a potter reader, I put it off because I didn't want to feel that I was succumbing to the hype (and they are childrens books, I felt that in my late twenties i should be persuing weightier matters) but they are quite good and I will probably read the half blood prince eventually

i went out at midnight - not for my 10 yr old daughter, but for me - im 29.

They aren't the best books of all time, however they are great books and in my top 10 somewhere - and what is important is that someone (JKR) in this day and age has got a shit load of kids to put down their xbox controllers and pick up a real life book for a change - that is the acheivement here.

Yes, a major character dies but I won't post it publically - if you really want to know then PM me.

I just got it from tesco's, much easier. They had loads of copies too. Got the last one from sainsbury's, same thing, loads of copies. I'm not sure what everyone's problem is with HP. If the 'classic' childrens books had been written nowadays, they would have had the same publicity bandwagon, it's not the books, it's just when they were written is all.

My problem is with JK Rowling - the mediawhore. She's the Tony Blair of children's books.

I saw her getting interviewed by Katie Couric on "Today" on NBC this morning.
