Enjoy it, it's fucking great. Hard to do work and be dad, need to be disciplined and switch off. How old's your child?

I'm not a dad, but I do have advice if yours is a baby still in diapers. Make sure, especially if it's a boy, the kid is done pissing when you change his diaper. I was with my friend who recently had his first kid (a boy). He had to change his son's diaper, and a few seconds later I heard him screaming "Shit, Fuck...etc." from the other room. Apparently, the baby still had to piss, and it went all over daddy.

Ah, fatherhood...

Its fuckin great.

I was a bit of a house husband for a while a few years back ... it certainly beats sitting in front of a PC all day. Enjoy the nappies, the accidents, the smells, the shite, the sleepless nights etc.... those days are over all too quickly.

My domestic situation didn't work out and now I only get to see my lad during school holidays (they live in Jersey now) and weekends when i can afford to fly over there.... I can't believe he can ride a bike without stabilisers now - and i missed it !! Boo Hoo....

Enjoy it mate.
Treasure it.

She's 6 months old in 2 weeks. I'm all geared up for sunny afternoons in the park!

yeah I'm expecting it to be hard work - got no idea how much time I'll actually be able to think about worky stuff, so I'll be playing it by ear for a bit

yeah that happens quite a lot. Sometimes I think she just does it for a laugh. I mean, you would wouldn't you?

I've been lucky avoiding the projectile shitting so far though [fingerscrossed]

cheers! dAN

I was a stay-at-home dad for the first 6 months of my son's life, (he's 14 months now), and loved every minute of it

Couldn't survive financially after that so started full-time freelancing then a month later my wife got real sick and I had to do it all again for the next 4 months, looking after the baby in the day and working on the contract I was on at the time at night... That was hard work and put us behind big time - not even close to being caught up yet financially but it's starting to pick up again slowly so hopefully things will be all good again in the not too distant future.

Sorry to hear things didn't work out for you Weldo - glad you visit your son as much as you can though Too many dads don't bother when something like that happens, my own included.

cheers! i'm feeling the love and it feels... squishy

I guess if I'm working for myself (as well as the parenting malarky) I'll be less likely to squander time hanging out here... or maybe that's not the case?

I'm gonna start a poll to find out who the freelancers/self employed are

you'll be on here constantly if you're working from home, in fact I fully expect your daughter to be posting as well in a couple of weeks
