@emil - Bosses are stopping me. I don't have admin access, so I can't install anything on the system. I suppose I could write static code, but I couldn't upload it (no FTP - and IE's built-in FTP doesn't always work), couldn't edit images (no Photoshop), and so on and so forth.

@smallbeer - It may appear that way, but it's really soul-crushingly boring. And cold - AC on 24/7 for climate control. I'll be getting a new job as soon as I'm confident that I can go without the health insurance.

I see. I don't have FTP access either, but I do have CPanel .
Oh yeah and without photoshop... Maybe start a MS Paint trend?

Maybe it's the cold that affects your back?

Haha. No thanks.

No, the sitting affects my back. Going to the doc on Thursday as I've had a recurrence of severe sciatic pain. May need surgery, which would mean missing 2 months of work - although I can't say I would be missing it, Bob.

Anyway, I just realized this is the fuck on thread.

Fuck on - my new toy to keep me occupied at "work"...

Funny I had to spend $180 (system and 4 games) to keep myself occupied at work.

I hope you can skip surgery. I don't know what it's like there, but here it's better not to need a doctor at all because you're likely to get out even sicker than you got in.

Hahaha. You meant my setup? Couldn't agree more. But it's better than only one monitor.

Could do with one. Too much greyscale and beige in here. And flourescent lights - ick.

And I got the sarcasm and agree with your assessment!

There's a bunch of scrap monitors in the back - could play "monitor tennis"...and it's not a cubicle...here's a fuller view.

Of course, my station is on the left (covered by a chair) and lobbing monitors over there might not be a good idea as the mainframe and virtual tape systems are just behind the desk.

You said it!

I roll myself back and forth a lot. It's fun til you bump the desk and almost knock two monitors off the back...

the clinical sterility of the environment. i'd be afraid to breathe for fear of being accused of endangering the stability of the atmosphere.

Ah.

It's not that clean, actually. People constantly tracking mud in there. I wouldn't eat anything off the floor. Especially since this is in a basement and it you find the occassional 2-3 inch cockroach running around. Nasty fuckers.
