There's a stack of fireplace brochures in the corner of the room that i really need to scan and photoshop for an online shop project I'm working on....

They've been there for about 3 weeks now and for the last few days I've been really trying to get stuck in and get it all out the way, but 'working from home' is helping to turn the idea of it into a Massive Chore, and I'm getting distracted by almost anything else....smoking, tv, wanking, washing, other work etc...

There was a time that I took this kind of thing in my stride, but of late it seems almost unbearable - although it's only maybe half a days work at most....

I need the money and that should be motivation enough, but it ain't.

Please Help

I know exactly where you're coming from - I'm supposed to be writing help files for our cms, but end up tidying the house for hours instead...

some electro-shock therapy maybe?

At this rate Mike, I'll come to Cambridge and tidy your house for ya just to avoid getting this done.....even write your help files....

Electro Shock sounds hopeful.
Also sounds like more fun than scanning and cropping........

"Yeh! Im totally ready to work!"

And you will power through it all then go tidy the house. WIll last approximatley 1.7 weeks before disapearing and you become a lazy slob once again.

Fucken hate it when that happens... The most unimportant things are suddenly the most important - but how to motivate yourself, hmmm...

TBH I'd probably sub it out to a kid/friend/relative/tealady with a scanner (or at least a PC and lend them my scanner) and pay them what that part of the job was worth to me.

If this is totally not an option motivate yourself with the fact that if you don't do then you won't be able to finish the project and you'll look like a cunt to your client. Word-of-mouth is the best source of business and bad word-of-mouth is the best way to avoid it, (that or having blaze in your name).

You can also do other stuff while it's scanning of course so set one going and do something in between scans - or process each image after it's scanned, crop it and optimize it etc. I'd avoid wanking as a mid-scan activity as you don't want to return fireplace brochures with the pages stuck together.

Well, as it's Saturday I convinced myself that it was okay to get stoned, drink some beers and watch Blazing Saddles.

Maybe I'll try and start over tommorrow ??
Or watch something else......

yup i cleared the weekend, just so I could sit down and get my shit sorted out without the phone ringing every five minutes and distracting me - what did I do?

I ordered some pizza and watched:

Mystic River - sean penn brings brooding bad boy to a whole new level - very good though

The butterfly effect : I thought this would be cheesy as hell, but I was actually quite impressed with it..

21 grams - gritty and depressing, but I enjoyed it a lot..

All in all a very productive saturday..

Still I do have the rest of today.....

good call, there's not enough buggery in film nowadays. It would certainly make hollywood blockbusters more palatable.

Well I actually got started with my work at last.....must have got nearly 20 images added !! Not great but a small step in the right direction.....

Even managed to squeeze in some UK Gold sitcom as well - Are You Being Served, no less......do you remember just how absolutely funky that theme tune is !!! A great sample waiting to happen !!
