Divide and rule. Old military strategy.

At my school (a decent respected place in the mid 60s), one of our class got a reputation for being a bit of a tough guy. One day in French class, his chair broke under him while he was sitting on it - and no-one thought it was deliberate except the teacher, who put him "on report", meaning he had to stand in silence outside the headmaster's office every day after school for two weeks for 90 minutes. That broke him. He turned into a genuine criminal, realising that he would be punished whether he was guilty or not, and the last I heard of him, he'd been arrested in Brazil for drug smuggling. Way to go, Wayne! (Tell the truth, someone mentioned at our school reunion in 2006 that he was back in England. TREMBLE, Limeys!)

I think smashing them in the face with an iron weight seems to work.

Overcome the opponent with massive force before they even think of doing you harm.

sticking to the war theme perhaps teachers should be equipped with nerve gas and flash bags.

Humiliation. Embarrass someone infront of others, or cause their actions to result in the punishment of the entire group. These techniques are used to great success in the British Army. They will soon start behaving when the other kids give them hell for causing them to be punished.

That didn't work with us in the sixties. We just turned against "authority" in general. I still have a healthy dose of disrespect for the "powers that be" although, thank Cthulhu, we have a far more liberal-minded set of ruling twats in Finland than most nations suffer from.

Respect for authority (any kind) begins at home. There have already been cases in the UK of 4 and 5 year olds being slung out of school for vile behaviour. Unfortunately, once the damage is done, nothing short of a lobotomy can correct the mindset so it looks like two generations of spare the child/hands off upbringing has not resulted in a more enlightened, gentle society after all. That was the intention. But the result is feral kids and murderous teachers.

Jolly good show, chaps.

A lot of the problems can be pinpointed to the breakdown of the family unit with many kids growing up without a father.

Makes sense to me - I grew up without a father, and I was a right bastard in school.

I cannot just judge the teacher, because I know what kind of attitude some of the teenagers like those have...I was once a teacher and it was very hard. You cannot give punishment to students because they will get back to you at all cost together with their parents.
