Had a few of these already this week alone... someone summed it up nicely when they said, be prepared to pull down your pants.

I'm guessing slave labour would be nice and cheap?

It's ultimately economically defeating. Sure the company might save a few bucks by exporting their customer service in the short term but in the long run I'm sure the quality of the service declines. People looking for service often get irritated having to attempt to decode what can occasionally be a thick and unpleasant accent and here in the UK customers have complained and even switched things like ISPs, Banks and all sorts of retailers because they exported a lot of their jobs for the sake of quick profit.

It harms economy overall because as I said, it exports jobs and you can't sell your product to a nation of people who can't earn worth a fuck because the high paid shit goes overseas to people who'll do it for a fraction of the cost. A lot of company's in the UK are now canceling their overseas employment contracts because it costs them customers in droves and as a counter-point some of the businesses have used vexed customer experiences as a selling point 'All of our customer service agents are UK based!', 'We keep jobs in England for the English, helping our economy prosper!' It works and there's nothing wrong with it.

Yeah, but its still happening. I built a t-shirt flash app last year and released it to the customer completely open source. He was coming back to add designs like every other month, then it stopped. I seen him outsourcing the updates on getafreelancer.com..

there is some great work on Elance, but it's about 5% of the total jobs there.
