nightmare scenario
Got the bejaysus scared out of me earlier. Myself, the missus and the dog were in the elevator of our building heading down. I pushed the button for the ground floor and as the doors were closing the dog dashed out and as it's an old style elevator the sensors are only in a knee high position so he didn't trigger them. Our hands were full, so by the time I could react to press any buttons the elevator is moving down and then herself lets out a scream as we both realise that she's got the handle of the lead in her hand and the dog is attached to the other end sitting on the third floor. Was one of those recoil leads. I fucking paniced and pushed the alarm/emergency stop button which didn't stop until we were between the first floor and ground floor. By then, the lead had snapped off the handle. I ran back up the stairs and expected to find the worst as there was no sign of him running down to us. His lead was still stuck in the elevator doors at this stage. Panic over. Not quite. As I called the elevator back up from the ground floor, somehow the lead had got caught up in the door mechanism and was winding up inside about to drag the dog up to the ceiling. I managed to grab hold of it until herself was able to release the dog from it. Might not sound like a big deal but it happened so fast I was quite shaken after it to be honest. Here's the fella that was in trouble. He's in top notch form now ![]() |

glad the little fella's ok, i know it must of been a really harrowing moment, and i don't mean any disrespect at all, but i couldn't help laughing at the comedy moment when the lead got wrapped around the lift mechanism and nearly dragged doggy up to the ceiling. |

I know what you mean stuntman. Both a horror and comedy moment at the same time. Later on in the car we joking about how he must have been as he was dragged face first into the elevator doors as we went down |

building owners, company responsible for maintaining the lift, the lift installers, the company that makes the lift parts, the company that made the leash, the person who sold you the leash, lift inspectors for failing to evaluate dangers of lift. Who else is there to sue? I am thinking like an american now? War is Gods way of teaching Americans Geography

Pretty stressful situation that must have been. Glad he didn't get hurt. I saw a dumb fuck with a dog not minding the gap at a train station once: The guy pulled the dog out of a train by his lead, but in a way that made the dog fall between the platform and the train, onto the tracks. Luckily people were quick to notice the conductors. And a guy with long arms was able to lift the dog back up on the platform. |
