I used to live in Muswell Hill - nice area, lots of parks and greenery nearby, lots of families with big houses and mercs. The downsides - can be expensive and it's a bus ride/walk to the tube station (But that keeps the place quiet and keeps the scum out). Also lived in Crouch End - similar set up but a few more scumbags cos it's proximity to Turnpike Lane and Tottenham. Still a really nice area though. If I had to move back to London now I'd move to Highgate or Mussy Hill. But then I like peace and quiet. |

err .. no it's not ... it's by the river in shad thames. It is lovely around there but full of dingy yuppie flats that cost more than they are worth. Another place to look at is Rotherhithe, just a bit further east from DM |

You're Romanian - turn up at the border, claim asylum and let the council pay for it. J/K m8. Look into living outside the city and commuting in - should be a lot cheaper. Wouldn't advise anywhere I lived in my 33 years in blighty as they were nearly all shitty areas. London rent prices are just crazy for what you get. I pay $1300 a month over here for a 5 bedroom detached with huuge gardens front and back. Not the most happening of places but I'm 10 minutes from work, 12 minutes from an English pub, 20 mins from Philadelphia and 2 hours from NYC. |

Have a look around Kensington Olympia. I lived there before moving to Tokyo, and will almost certainly go to the same area when I get back later this yr. It's reasonably priced (I paid approx. £900 a month, including council tax) for a nice size studio/1 bed, in a very nice road (bolingbroke). There are loads of good flats to be had in the area, and considering you're in walking distance of High St Kensington, and a very pleasant cycle ride (through kensington park and hyde park) into the city, then I can't see much better! This is based on 7 yrs living in London, inc. north, east and west. North is also cool, but I prefer living west as the ride to work's better! |

... and don't use Foxtons, they're a rip. Try the loot. Also good for reference: London Flats - propertyfinder.com |
