Is it just me or is it getting increasingly unstable, particularly live chat?

It's starting to piss me off now.

yes definately, live chat bombs out on me all the time. No substitue for instant messenger.

I also think the layout is a bit shot since the changes. Its all down to the live feed, they have tried to mix too many content types resulting in a big jumbled mess

The instability of fb brings up a whole new conversation regarding the overuse of bloated code and emerging web technologies. Could it be that they're just trying to pack too much into the browser window? The "new" facebook serves its purpose, but in many ways, there's just too much going (IMO) when you're using certain apps, etc.

This is just a brief summary of my fb theory, but do you think it has any merit? Last.fm "does a lot" and seems to carry on without a hitch.

if you use "adium" you can log into facebook chat no problem. But then everyone thinks you're loitering on facebook all day.
