Amazon S3 looks interesting, and pretty reasonable.

Been thinking about online storage for a while now, any other good ones to check out?

I'm looking just for storage, not hosting etc.

Hosts that offer unlimited space and bandwidth have clauses in their TC's that stop you using a lot of space and bandwidth... it's a bit of a trick really. You can see how far you get though, but usually when you start to take use of the "unlimited", they shut you off.

I contacted Bluehost about that when they became unlimited. I asked the guy about 'fair use' clauses and the like, and he said that as long as you aren't hosting content you don't have the rights to (ie: filesharing), they had no limit.

Maybe I didn't ask the right questions, but I definitely tried.

I thought this sounded too good to be true. Makes sense really as there'd be no way for these hosts to keep up with capacity.

Looking at Amazon's S3 service I see that:
Quote:
Amazon S3 is storage for the Internet. It is designed to make web-scale computing easier for developers.

Quote:
# Write, read, and delete objects containing from 1 byte to 5 gigabytes of data each. The number of objects you can store is unlimited.
Which is fine if I only had a handful of 5GB files but I'm looking at uploading 10 to 20 GB at a time. Ideally as a torrent.

Quote:
# Each object is stored in a bucket and retrieved via a unique, developer-assigned key.
Sounds like a bit of a pain in the arse - and how secure is a bucket!?

Been looking at storage options, iDrive.com offers 150GB storage for $4.95 per month, good Mac support too.

Sounds half decent. Anyone use them?

That looks just the ticket. They do 2GB full featured for free so might be worth signing up to see how it all works.
