How difficult would this site be to make?

I don't want to go into to much detail because, even though its pretty unlikely, I don't want this idea stolen.

Basically I need the site to have:

-user created pages similar to that of myspace or facebook

-a system for user reviews for each of those pages

- search engine within the site for user pages

-Users must be able to choose which categories etc. their page fits under

- a system for logged in users to contact creators of user pages

I am relatively new at web design in any form, could this be done by 1-4 people with basic to no skills? How much do you think this would cost to create and maintain?

Without knowledge of PHP/MYSQL you're going to struggle. You could try PluggedOut Nexus - social network but beware the documentation is very limited and its no longer being developed.

Second option would be to hire a web developer if you've got the cash.

The past tense of 'spit' in American English is 'spit'. They don't change, hence the famous line from "My Way", "But through it all, when there was doubt, I ate it up and spit it out."

good on you for not wanting your presumably innovative social networking site idea stolen...
