I reckon the set-up in post #4 is for video production. Looks impressive, whatever it's for.
Having a work station in the middle of the room is a pisser - there's always something distracting going on in some direction and the wires all over the floor are both dangerous and unsightly. It's much safer and more productive to work by a wall!
